Picture sleeve 45s are Harry's main thing. In this section we preview a selection of these picture sleeve 45s as Hattricks Full Of Soul!
It is NOT what is in the grooves that counts... well of course the MUSIC is the most important but collecting picture sleeve 45s is equally interesting especially in Europe. In the sixties and seventies it was not uncommon that the same song was released with a totally different picture sleeve in each country.
The most important countries for picture sleeve single releases were the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
In the UK and USA there were occasional picture sleeve releases mainly EP's in the UK and Jukebox singles in the USA. It was not until the eighties that the UK and USA started to produce picture sleeves in large quantities.

After collecting mainly albums for a long time Harry's attention at record fairs was drawn more and more to picture sleeved singles. Especially interesting were sleeves with weird graphic designs, splashing colors, and spelling mistakes.
After Harry discovered eBay and later Discogs even more opportunities opened up to collect picture sleeve singles from all over the world. The idea to put together "hattricks" (three themed single sleeves) came some time later.
The plan now is to compile a book with hundreds (or even thousands!) of "Hattricks full of soul". Harry has now completed 28 chapters for the book. Some of these chapters like for instance "Cloud 9" (about drugs) only contain 12 singles but there are other chapters like "Big Fun" about big groups ranging from orchestras like Duke Ellington's to groups like Earth, Wind & Fire, which contains 165 singles!
The book (just like Fingerpoppin Soul) will cover many genres so there are also chapters on Rap, Reggae, Latin and Jazz. To give you a taster of what will be in the book we will give you some preview chapters.
